Anytime there’s a patch to Star Wars: The Old Republic, we have you covered – all the notes, nicely formatted, with Torhead tooltips for dessert! Check here first to find out if you need to rage on the forums about a nerf to your class.

Bad news and good news this morning, everyone!

The bad news is that maintenance has been extended.

The good news: today is Patch 1.0.1! This build was available on the Public Test Server right after launch, and is now ready for live play! Feast on the notes below.

With this update, the first of many for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, we have addressed several high-priority bugs. We’ve implemented fixes for those players affected by performance issues on Taris and have corrected the problem preventing some pending mission rewards from being accepted. Additionally, the issue that could cause some gathering nodes to appear unharvestable has been addressed, and you’ll notice several bug fixes relating to Flashpoint and Operation content.

We’re committed providing the best possible MMO experience, and will continue releasing fixes and updates on a regular basis.

Thank you for playing Star Wars: The Old Republic!

Stephen Reid To Host AMA On Reddit

Reddit bills itself as “the front page of the internet.” While that might be a stretch, it has definitely caught on as a bit of an underground social network, somewhere between usenet and Facebook. Or something. Topics of every kind can be found here, and it’s all user-generated.

There has been a Reddit dedicated to TOR for some time, and it can be found here. It’s been a source of some great discussion during the development of Star Wars: The Old Republic, including links to “things” I’m certain BioWare would rather not have had seen out there during the Game Testing program. None the less, it’s a lively place with tons of passionate fans discussing the game every day.

Senior Community Manager Stephen Reid has decided to bravely venture into the the fray this coming Wednesday, December 28th at 2:00PM Austin Time (Central Standard Time) to host an AMA. That’s Reddit lingo for, “Ask Me Anything.” And while I’m sure the “ask” part will be covered, that doesn’t necessarily mean Stephen will be able to AEYA (Answer Everything You Asked). I’m sure he’ll give it the old college try, however!

This is a (welcome) trend with game developers recently, as ArenaNet’s Jon Peters helms an AMA for Guild Wars 2. As a matter of fact you should check it out so you know what to expect.

So mark your calendars for Wednesday and see if you can get ‘ol Rockjaw to spill his guts!

Zlatto’s Bazaar: Biochem – The Non-Crafter’s Crew Skill?

Zlatto’s Bazaar is the one-third Wall Street, one-third criminal empire and one-half gossip rag. You need to keep up on the Bazaar if for no other reason than to keep an eye on your competitors. Don’t be a Ho-tah and visit often. Your comments are encouraged, especially if they make me credits…

I know the title is a bit vague, but the concept came to me as I was checking out ways to make credits from my Consular’s Biochem skills. So far, we all know that Slicing will be an easy money maker. From what I have seen, once the skill has been leveled to 150 I was averaging a net gain of 20% just sending my crew out on lock box missions. As of today I have not been able to see what the GTN will be like for profit margins on Augments, but I would guess that there are going to be plenty of players looking to take a short cut to leveling their skills and we all should look to profit from it.

But back to Biochem and my goofy article title.

As you might have been able to tell, I am a bit of an OCD crafter (which might be why they let me spout my crazy here at AAJ). So as soon as I started leveling my character I was gathering on Tython before I could even craft. When I finally got my first companion I was able to craft up Biochem to the mid 20’s with just what I had in my inventory. As a testament to my disorder – I mean really who needs a level 8 purple item when you will craft past it in just hours – I worked up Reusable Compact Medpac to test a theory itch that I needed to scratch. Now look carefully at the image below:

I grabbed the image from Torhead as my screen shots in game are a bit challenging due to the strange Windows 7 64 bit craziness (that’s the last time I buy a gaming laptop from a Jawa). The image above differs from what we see in game as it does not have a “Requires” statement. In game, the Reusable Compact Medpac requires a player to have Biochem level 1 along side the actual character level of 8. “Why do I care about this Zlatto? I could have lost a quick game of Hutball in the time I have wasted reading this article”. Give me a another few paragraphs and a few questions to you and I will make it worth your while.

Launch-Beard Daniel Erickson Talks To Giant Bomb

Much as Zip-Line Attack Batman is an enhanced version of the original, Launch-Beard Daniel Erickson is everything we knew before, plus more! This new-edition Daniel Erickson took some time with the guys from Giant Bomb (which we’re big fans of, by the way) to discuss anything and everything about Star Wars: The Old Republic.

The 30-some minute interview in classic Giant Bomb fashion also has Daniel talking about his experience as a gamer and generally going above and beyond what we might see in a mainstream interview. Definitely a must-watch for hard core TOR fans.

James Ohlen On The Near Future – New Flashpoint On a New Planet + Operation Expansion

I’ve not even generated my Legacy Name yet, and Game Director James Ohlen is already talking about the first true content patch for Star Wars: The Old Republic – coming sometime next month!

Taking to the Community Blog, Ohlen throws down a few hints as to what to expect. First up is a new Flashpoint on a “brand new world” which sounds like the Taral V scenario (on a planet you can’t otherwise travel to.) But hey, at least it’s new content!

He also teases an expansion of the existing Karraga’s Palace Operation, more than tripling its size. Does that mean the version in the game now is being replaced, or literally expanding on it? We’ll see soon!

Head on over to the Community News blog for the whole read.

"Hey guys, another big droid! What do we do?" "Kill it."
