Game Testing To End With Dance Party Blowout!

Earlier today in Blue Milk & Cereal, we pondered if perhaps BioWare might do something special in the form of an in-game event to commemorate the completion of the Game Testing program this weekend.

Well, our answer just came in the form of a dance party, as indicated in an official forum post from Senior Community Manager Stephen Reid:

To celebrate the end of testing for Star Wars: The Old Republic, tonight at 11:30PM CST on every server, on the game’s Capital Worlds (Coruscant and Dromund Kaas), we invite everyone to a giant Star Wars dance off!

Where: On every active server – on Coruscant, in the Senate Plaza; on Dromund Kaas, within Kaas City.

When: From 11:30PM CST (9:30PM PST; 12:30AM EST; 5:30AM GMT; 6:30AM CET) until server maintenance begins (currently scheduled for 11:59PM CST). The event may be shortened depending on server performance.

Why: For fun! This is purely a social event allowing players to get together, to mix and mingle and see testing off in style. Get your /dance command ready!

Mr. Reid went on to advise that if you come to the party, you should do so as a group to ensure that you are in the same phase as your friends.

No word yet on if some ancestor of Sy Snootles will be performing live, but if you’re in Game Testing this weekend, put on your dancing shoes (social item, of course) and head on over to your capital world for what is sure to be a memorable and rockin’ good time!

Ask A Jedi will be there covering the event live, just as we do for every event that Star Wars: The Old Republic attends, so you can count on screenshots, movies and anything else we can smuggle outta there :)

  1. Lady Republic says:

Sad to say I won’t be able to make it – work bright and early tomorrow morning East Coast time, and not a day I can go in late. I look forward to the screenshots!

  2. Is this available to everyone who tested, or only people who are testing this weekend. I think it would be pretty fucked up to not let everyone who contributed to the testing to participate in this event…

  3. I can just see the Blue Milk and Cereal Tommorow… “Did you participate in the Dance off???” Good Grief….

  4. Kind of an… uninspired end of beta. And rather unfortunately timed too as basically everybody who’s European and with a job or education and/or common sense will be asleep by then.

    • The dance party should’ve ended with Malgus showing up on Coruscant and Satele showing up on DK, then just obliterating everyone there! :)

      • Bielduwyn says:

Heck, I would’ve been happy if they had just let Satele appear near the Senate and Malgus in Kaas City and the two starting to dance. Just, y’know, anything but a completely player generated event.

  5. WhiteWarrior says:

    Haha… that was fun…

  6. Hm. Nothing happened other than ~30ppl dancing in the DK cantina.
I have to say I was a little bit disappointed..

  7. Unfortunatly it was at 5:30 am in sunny England!

I was on the final test weekend but my head would have given out if I had decided to try and make it online at that time.

I had a wonderful weekend and suprisingly there was a plethera of fixes for problems I had seen on the first weekend.

  8. Overall, I think this was a bit of an anti-climax. BW really could have done something around this. In addition, they didn’t state where on the planet.

However, two things did come out of this for me. I was guilded with others at Ask A Jedi, and was brought into the same instance because of that. This was a nice way to test a benefit of being guilded and being assigned to the same instance. Second, I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the game was with so many players in the same area. If nothing else, this served as a final stress test for BW.
