Blue Milk & Cereal: Did You Get Your Code In?

No day would be complete without the breakfast of Jedi: Blue Milk & Cereal.  Every morning, the team at Ask A Jedi will get Force-induced thoughts coursing through your head with delicious issues from around the galaxy! Join in the discussion below to make your voice heard!

As of the wee hours this morning, the 48 hour grace period for Star Wars: The Old Republic early access players to enter their product registration code has ended. This means that in order to log into the game, you must have the product registration code that came with your physical or digital product attached to your account, as well as have an active subscription.

However, this is turning out to be easier said than done. As players wake up this morning to find out they cannot log into the game, they’re flocking to their SWTOR.com accounts to complete these tasks. As a result the BioWare servers are overloaded, making the process difficult to complete.

BioWare has stated one of their main goals in launching Star Wars: The Old Republic was not only making a great game, but providing a great service as well. That goes for infrastructure, customer service and everything in-between. I’m confident BioWare has top men on the case. Top. Men.

So we just wanted to take a quick poll – were you able to get your product registration code entered before the end of the grace period? Are you experiencing any technical or customer service issues if not? Let us know below!

Did you get your product registration code in before the end of the grace period?

  1. Got the product entered day #1, but apparently my subscription didn’t work so stuck in ques on webpage all day.

  2. I submitted my code and had an active subscription and STILL can’t log on. I get to wait with the giant queue even when I did everything right…. fail. Its been over an hour and I don’t see it ended any time soon.

  3. I registered my code on 13th December already – lucky to live in Europe. However, I can’t play play now, cause I don’t have active subscription despite still having 27days of gameplay… or rather 26, because today was total waste of time =/

  4. Hmm well my code is in, but since I cannot get out of the waiting rooms on the website and cannot get to my account, I cannot set up an subscription to get into the game again.

I got as far as adding an paypal account, but that was 4 hours ago now hehe :P

  5. I got my code in the day of launch. Has anyone been able to get in at all??

  6. Received my CE last Friday. Entered code. Set up subscription. Been playing just fine ever since. Same goes for my girlfriend.

  7. Yeah this is just insane. I enter my code and everything and I am completely locked out. I mean, I understand this is Bioware’s first stab at an MMO but come on man… I can only hope that things smooth over after the launch and these novice mistakes become a thing of the past.

  8. It’s pretty standard for an MMO to require you to have an active subscription to play, even within 30 days of free time. You of course don’t get billed until that is up. I simply subscribed at the same time I entered my product code yesterday and everything seems ok this morning.

Give them time, there are huge loads on the infrastructure right now but it will subside!

  9. redemed the code few days ago, but got stuck on the subscription page because of problems with the credit cards…
managed to get my sub active after nearly 1 day of reloading the page… EA forgot to test the payment server load :)

  10. I got the code in but no CC, so I am just waiting on that damn

Due to extremely high volumes of website traffic, you have been placed in a queue to access the page you requested. This is not an error page and you do not need to refresh your browser. This page will refresh automatically and take you into the site when there is room available.

Screen starting to hate that screen

  11. Because I did a digital copy I set everything up on the 17th. Worked like a charm, no issues and playing away. The rest of my guild had the same luck.

  12. Sadly I’m still waiting on Amazon to deliver my CE to New Zealand. Its not due to arrive until December 29th (assuming that the couriers will be working during the Holidays. Maybe by then all the queues will be gone.

  13. Same here. Waiting for my CE to arrive here in South Africa, surprisingly it says estimated arrival date of 23/12/11 but im realistically expecting it next week. Dont have CC either and cant get time cards easily here so will be borrowing a CC or something till I get mine. Sucks you need a subscription inputted before you can play the 30 days that you ALREADY paid for.
Sigh at us poor “Red Zoners”, we really all paid a huge price (literally and figuratively) for this game.

  14. it’s kinda dirty what they did to people who pre-order. we should have had 30 days before we had to get a game card to play.

  15. Master_Allan says:

    This is fucked up.
I bought a Digital Deluxe Edition Pre-order MONTHS ago.
I DID enter my registration information, I have EVERYTHING filled out and completed BEFORE the grace period was even mentioned.
And yet i still CANNOT enter the forums to make a post, or even play the game. what the fuck!?

  16. Zach Sneddon says:

The following is the slightly redacted text of a message I just sent to the SWTOR customer support droids:

    Dear Sir or Madam,

Hello, my name is Zachary Sneddon, and I pre-ordered my Collector’s Edition copy of Star Wars: The Old Republic from Amazon.com within an hour of the announcement of its availability on July 21 of this year. My order number through Amazon.com is xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx, and its FedEx shipment tracking number is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

According to the package tracking information available through the FedEx website at http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?cntry_code=us&tracknumber_list=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&language=english , my physical copy of SWTOR shipped on the 18th of December, and is not scheduled to arrive at my location until the 27th of December.

Your decision to end the early game access grace period as of 2am CST this morning is a real slap in the face for customers like myself who were enthusiastic enough about the release of the game that we put up $150.00 five months ago for a game that hadn’t even been released yet. Your policy is preventing me from accessing the game until I receive my physical copy next week, when people who just now decided on a whim to go and buy the unlimited retail and digital release versions for one third the asking price are allowed to play all through this extended holiday weekend, a weekend during which I am stranded at my post on a military base thousands of miles from my family and during which I looked forward to nothing more than playing your game.

I have greatly enjoyed the iterations of the game I’ve played throughout the beta testing cycle and the early game access period. I think you’ve got a great product; the gameplay is well-balanced, the storylines are engaging, the voice acting is rock-solid, it has a smooth framerate on my slightly underpowered computer, and it’s just overall a great game. What will make or break your success as a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game provider, however, is your ability to provide timely and high-quality service to your customers, and with your customer support I am seriously underwhelmed. I have called your customer support hotline, 1-855-GO-SWTOR, several times and received only a busy signal, without so much as an automated message stating your customer service hours of operation. This is also the second email message I have sent regarding this problem, and I have yet to receive a response to the first one.

I understand that your support staff must be very busy with the customer support issues that will inevitably pop up during a game’s launch cycle, but this is a serious concern that you have failed to address. I spent a not-insignificant amount of money to ensure I could get in on the game as soon as possible, and it turns out my decision to pre-order has instead ensured that my access to your game will be delayed for at least a week after official launch. Your limitations on The Old Republic’s access grace period are alienating those customers who would otherwise be your most vocal boosters and loyal supporters, and this is a business error that may prove costly in the long run.

    Respectfully,

  17. I have got my product code however when I entered it, it rejected it saying it had been used before. Please help me.

  18. I entered my code but it says i dont hav a subscription. So i have to wait for christmas to get the 2 month one
