[UPDATED] Launch Events Announced For Star Wars: The Old Republic!
If you live in Austin, New York, London or Paris – or are willing to get to one of those places – you have a chance to participate directly in a Star Wars: The Old Republic launch event, complete with BioWare representatives, live entertainment and Sith cookies. (*Sith cookies probably not included.)
On December 20th, 2011, BioWare and LucasArts will be launching Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. To celebrate the game’s release, we are hosting a series of launch events in several major cities in both North America and Europe!
Announced today in their new community blog, the launch parties will be the best way to get pumped up prior to your entry into The Old Republic! It also sounds like it might be a great way to get some swag or bring some to get signed. There will be BioWare peeps attending all events around the globe!
Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk will be in New York, while Game Director James Ohlen and Rich Vogel will hold down the fort in Austin. Across the pond, Senior Writer Alexander Freed will be in London and Associate Lead Designer Emmanuel Lusinchi will be at the Paris event.
If you’ve never attended an MMO launch event, and have the opportunity to attend one of these, I highly recommend it! Let us know if you go, and send us some pics!
[UPDATE] BioWare has made a post to their community blog regarding the London launch event:
Due to unforeseen extremely high levels of demand and in compliance with local law, we have had to change the event to invite only. To make it fair, GAME will randomly draw attendees from a list of those that register their interest. To be in with a chance of attending, please head to GAME’s Facebook page (found here) and follow the instructions given.
So if you plan on attending the London launch event (and I know some of you are), be sure to check out the entire post.

Would be nice if Bioware released a list of places that will hold a launch event. I know a big store in my area did it with MW 2&3 and with the WoW expansions. Hopefully, they’ll do a Old Republic one too =)
The Holocron Podcast will be in attendence at the Austin event… I look forward to seeing everyone there.
It seems a lot of people will actually be able to attend these since they won’t be playing the day of release….or the day after that…..or maybe even a week or 2 after.
I live in Dallas, I might just have to load the mini van up and head down there.
I love how I spent 20 years moving to Southern California only to have all the events stop coming here for various reasons. :P
I live like 20 minutes from the Blizzard campus in Irvine. Maybe I should go teepee it to celebrate the release of TOR.

No San Francisco? Drat. Finally out of the boondocks and in a major city for the holidays and look what happens. :(
