Blue Milk & Cereal: How Many Warzones Should TOR Have At Launch?

For a massively multiplayer online game, diversity and variety are what can differentiate just another MMO from a great MMO. When talking about the Player vs Player system, the variety of game modes, maps, sizes – all of these can contribute to the fun factor, and keep players coming back for more.

With regards to Star Wars: The Old Republic, we have instanced battleground maps called Warzones. Up until gamescom, we knew of two Warzones in TOR: Alderaan Civil War  and The Voidstar. Now, we know of a third: Hutball. Each are extremely different in their goals and approaches to how the two teams interact and compete for victory.

The question that comes next is this -how many Warzones (not including the open-world PvP) will there be in TOR? On the upside, more variety would always be a good thing. But having more Warzone maps could also potentially spread out the player-based, making it take longer to get into a PvP match. In my personal opinion – BioWare should launch TOR with at least 3-5 Warzones that will bring  just enough diversity and fun gameplay for PvP fans.

What about you? How many Warzones do you think TOR should have at launch? Does it matter to you? As usual, let us know below!

How many Warzones would you like to see in TOR at launch?

  1. MrWarlock says:

I’m going for 5 in total as we get the first at level 10. We should be to unlock another warzone every 10 levels.

  2. Honestly they will need 5+ total..WZs BGs BFs…whatever you call them quickly get boring if they are over played and most pvpers will play non stop. Even just a change of map with the same game rules can make a huge difference. Thats how FPSers do it.

  3. (I assume warzone = battleground?)

3 is the perfect number, blizzard started with 3 bgs for a reason.
    1. They can make 3 very good bgs instead of 5 decent ones
    2. 2 is not enough variety, 3 is.
    3. > 3 is too much because most people will start PvPing at max level, which means they suddenly face 5 unknown areas. Which is too much to handle for the casual or less then casual players, people will just call them noobs because they don’t know anything about the BG

  4. Since I can’t find any “Commit News” button I’ll just post here and hope you ppl from askajedi find it.

I found 2 nice videos from the gc2011 showing the Alderaan Warzone and the Hutt Ball.

Alderaan Warzone (about 5min gamplay): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_pHecIE7vo&feature=related
Hutt Ball (about 15min gameplay): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oVSHsxJM5k&feature=related

Both are commented and I find them worth the watch.
None of these are mine though ;)
Maybe you want to include them in a news or something.
