Update: The Art And Making of Star Wars: The Old Republic

Earlier this year, we reported on the upcoming release of a behind-the-scenes making-of book for Star Wars: The Old Republic, appropriately titled The Art and Making of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Back then, the retailers that had it available for pre-order listed it for a November 1, 2011 release. Well, now it seems Barnes & Noble has the book available for pre-order, with a more specific release date of October 19.

Now, just as when one of these retailers posts a “release date” for TOR itself, it’s merely a placeholder until BioWare announces otherwise. So it’s possible this date is merely a placeholder as well, not to mention can get changed as necessary. Still, it’s interesting that B&N lists such a specific date. It should be noted that October 19 is a Wednesday, when books are typically released (in the US, anyway) on Tuesdays.

We don’t yet know if this is the same book that might be included with any sort of “collector’s edition” of TOR (or even if there will BE a “collector’s edition” – nothing has been announced), but it seems like a good bet.

Here are a list of retailers with the book currently available for pre-order, and the dates they’ve listed:

Thanks to @jfollm on Twitter for the tip!

The Art And Making of The Old Republic

  1. I would like to buy this book as soon as it comes out. Our store is posting a October 5, 11 release date: http://www.amazon.ca/Art-Making-Star-Wars-Republic/dp/0811875008/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1IGZSEL5J7I29&colid=QBIII4QKY2E5

  2. Haha, thanks for the mention guys!

  3. I wonder how this will tie in to a CE edition

  4. To many things comeing out for this game in November that will spoil it.Raze stuff, this book, Raven book ect. Have to think the game will be out befor then. Oct 11th is a good day for me BW. lol

  5. So much delicious speculationy goodness. Not hard to imagine launch on TOR could be the 18th. Hold the book one extra day so that it’s a bit of a bonus if they do pack it in with the CE, or simply to avoid spoilers at launch (though that’s a bit of an odd reason).

Of course, this could all just be nothing and the book actually comes out in December. Or it could go on sale and the game not come out until 2012…nothing inherently connects the two things. But it’s fun to make with the speculation.

And I just realized that email from last month about the end of SWG indicates that subscriptions will stop renewing on October 15th. Would be kind of perfect for TOR to then release 3 days later. Just sayin’.

  6. This went pretty overlooked yesterday because of the whole +1 rumor hype.
