E3 2011 – Tattooine Developer Walkthrough

The E3 train keeps rolling for the TOR faithful with yet another special update from BioWare: a developer walkthrough of the Tattooine content being enjoyed by visitors to E3!

Hosted by Dallas Dickenson, this almost twelve minute video takes you through a good chunk of the playable content available on the show floor, and really gives a good feel for the level of quality, polish and sheer scale of the worlds! Needless to say, if you’re reading this, it’s a must see!

This is also the same content I had the privilege of playing through twice (as that same Sith Sorcerer no less!) So if you have any questions, post them below and I’ll try to answer!

  1. Kirotokai says:

Looking at the map and the amount of area they covered of it, these worlds look pretty big. Did you have a chance to do some in-depth exploring while demoing at E3? How long do you think it would take someone to cover that whole area just wandering around (that is, not just mounting up and going straight from one side to the other)?

    • Lethality says:

Tattooine is huge, even on the speeder. If you were to walk from end to end, and this is just a guess, it would be about 20-30 minutes. if you were to truly explore all the nooks, crannies, canyons and dunes on foot? Hard to say… but definitely many, many hours, spread out over days depending on you you do it!

      • Kirotokai says:

That is awesome, thanks. The suspense of waiting for this game is killing me! I hope it’s worth all these years of waiting and from the looks of it it will be.

  2. Cruelhand says:

All I want to ask is, was it fun?

    • Lethality says:

Absolutely. The combat and interaction is tactile and visceral… and it has that intangible quality that just keeps you wanting to play and not walk away… !

  3. Synergy says:

I’m extremely excited for this game. However, I was looking forward to playing a Sith Sorcerer and I realize this is only level ~25 content but this is one of the first classes I’ve seen that the gameplay looks kind of boring. A lot of standing still and casting… (which is to be expected from a caster class) but still. Maybe shed some light on if there was more to it than just standing and casting the same couple lightning attacks over and over.

    • Lethality says:

Normally I don’t play a caster so it was a little foreign to me. I know that most of the abilities bound to 1-10 were casting type abilities, and I didn’t actually actively use my sabre… not that I couldn’t have, but for what I was doing I just went with what it was.

There are A LOT of skills and I have a feeling its really going to allow players to develop their own favorite way of playing. There were some good stuns and control abilities that make at least questing combat interesting and fun.

  4. Did you happen to recognize the Male voice actor for the Sith Inquisitor. I have asked this question everywhere and still can not find it.
