Game Testing Rumors: Coming Soon? [UPDATED]

Normally, we wouldn’t post unsubstantiated rumors… but the magnitude of this one could be huge!

There is a thread on the official Star Wars: The Old Republic forums started by community member Awran that talks about rumors of a “beta” session this weeken. Sean Dahlberg posted an ever-so-cryptic response.

Word for word, it means nor confirms anything. But we thought we’d share it and let you decide if you think anything is afoot!

Thanks for the information and it’s definitely interesting that people are posting about our Game Testing Program. We don’t have anything official to say at this moment but if you have any questions, please check out the Game Testing Program FAQ.

UPDATE #1: Sean has thrown more fuel on the fire when responding to a community member about what is allowed:

The Game Testing Agreement that was agreed upon (when signing up for game testing) states:

PERMITTED DISCLOSURES
1. The fact that there is a Game Program.
2. The fact that you are a member of the Game Program.

Outside of that, it is a violation of the agreement to do anything more such as posting images or screen captures of anything related to Game Testing that is private and confidential and not already publicly revealed by The Old Republic team.

UPDATE #2: There is a screenshot floating around, but we’re not going to post it. If it ends up being real, it’s just not fair to BioWare… However if you do see it somewhere, take it with a grain of salt.

UPDATE #3: Ok, this took a bit of sleuthing…  One of the members from he community claiming to have gotten an invite seems to have a hidden post when you search their post history. This is the same behavior that is exhibited when a developer or moderator posts in one of the forums hidden from the general pubic. So, the conclusion we can draw is that this user did post in a forum not available to the rest of us.  Take it for what it’s worth :)

So, it does seem some sort of expanded testing is getting under way on The Old Republic… still waiting for official confirmation though!
