gamescom 2011: Eternity Vault Screenshots

BioWare has released 5 new official high-resolution screenshots of the Eternity Vault Operation, so we wanted to put them in a gallery for your enjoyment.

The Eternity Vault is of course the first announced Operation (raid) in Star Wars: The Old Republic. It’s an ancient prison on the planet Belsavis that houses the most powerful force user in over 20,000 years – threat to both the Republic and Empire alike. It comes in 8- and 16-man versions and will be available when TOR launches later this year.

You can get a look of a live team playing the Eternity Vault during the EA press conference a few days ago right here.

Enjoy!

gamescom 2011: BioWare Pulse Interviews Cory Butler

BioWare TV keeps bringing the TOR goodness out of gamescom, this time with an interview with Live Producer Cory Butler.

Cory covers some general topics and questions, but perhaps the most interesting factoid is that same-gender romance arcs are in fact not in Star Wars: The Old Republic. We don’t believe this has been confirmed prior to this, but feel free to correct us if we’re wrong (as we know you will! ;)

gamescom 2011: BioWare Pulse Q&A With The Doctors

Earlier today, BioWare Co-Founders Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk took to the stage at gamescom for a Q&A session with fans.

Their portion of the video starts at about 4:30, and contains text-captions of the questions that may be hard to hear.

Some of the highlights:

  • Beta weekends start in the fall (seem to have stepped away from September terminology)
  • Morality gear will exist for middle-of-the-road or “gray” characters
  • Guild Phase 2 is very soon™
  • Ultimately will do rated PvP but not at launch
  • Can play game in different languages if you wish
  • 16-man Operation loot is better than 8-man Operation raid loot
  • Races being shown are ones for launch. Maybe more after
  • We will find out what happened to Revan
  • Some plans for starships later, including special ships for other purposes

The whole video of course is a must-watch for any of the TOR faithful!

gamescom 2011: Stephen Reid Interview With TotalBiscuit

If you’re a WoW fan, you’re probably most familiar with The Cynical Brit and Totalbiscuit from the myriad of WoW related videos they’ve produced over time. But it’s actually a highly entertaining source of gaming news in general, going beyond WoW and MMOs.

Yesterday they sat down with BioWare Senior Community Manager Stephen Reid for an interview, but it’s much more than that – you’ll hear Stephen talk and see as he plays through some origin world gameplay on the Korriban as a Sith Warrior.

This video is about 25 minutes long, and well worth the watch… It has some of the nicest cam-shot gameplay footage we’ve seen. But beware, if you’re planning on playing a Sith character, there are probably some spoilers!

Stephen Reid and his adoring fans.
