San Diego Comic-Con 2011: Full Frontal Coverage!

Convention season is in full swing, and the world’s largest pop culture convention is now upon us. For fans of Star Wars: The Old Republic, San Diego Comic-Con promises to be a show to remember!

Of course, Ask A Jedi has troops on the ground in San Diego poised to bring you interviews, news and pics direct from the show. And hopefully a few surprises…

But we also want to provide the most comprehensive coverage of TOR @ SDCC. To that end, we’ll keep this post updated with the very best coverage we find from around the web, and if you see something we missed please let us know and we’ll add it!

Star Wars: The Old Republic Panel: Join Us, It’s Your Destiny

Probably the most important hour of the weekend for TOR fans is BioWare’s panel, set for Thursday afternoon at 3:30PM PDT. This will likely be the forum for any announcements and reveals for the show, and promises to be quite interesting if you’ve been following the buzz this week :)

Dark Horse and BioWare: A Comic and Video Game Partnership

This panel also promises to be chock-full of goodness for TOR fans. Dark Horse is responsible for many Star Wars comic series, including the current Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Lost Suns which runs parallel to events in the game! We should hear some cool announcements here.

BioWare Base

In addition to a presence on the SDCC show floor where fans can get hands-on time with The Old Republic, BioWare has also set up camp at the nearby Hilton Gaslamp Hotel. Known as BioWare Base, even fans without SDCC badges can line up to play TOR (and other BioWare games)! This panel is on Saturday the 23rd at 4:00PM PDT.

It has been confirmed that fans at BioWare Base will be able to participate in the Alderaan PvP Warzone:

Stephen Reid: Second… I’m happy to say anyone visiting the BioWare Base from tomorrow, 12pm onwards, will get to play the #SWTOR Alderaan PvP Warzone.

• 12PM – 7PM: Operating hours for The Old Republic demos
• 4:30PM: The Old Republic signing session

• 4PM-5PM: The Old Republic Panel, Q&A, and signing session

Saturday, July 23rd

Community Meet & Greet

BioWare will be holding another one of their now-famouse Community Meet & Greet gatherings at the Hilton Gaslamp hotel (same place as BioWare Base.) I can tell you from experience, these events are great. It’s a relaxed environment where you get a chance to speak directly to members of the TOR dev team, and they make themselves very accessible. If you’re thinking about going, think no more – do it!

Needless to say, this is a huge show for TOR. The buzz this week has been enormous and fans are expecting a lot. Stay tuned to Ask A Jedi to find out if BioWare can help SDCC live up to all of the hopes and dreams!
