PAX East 2011: Hall Hood Interview

Yesterday here at PAX East 2011, BioWare Senior Writer Hall Hood was nice enough to take a few minutes with Professor Walsh to discuss Star Wars™: The Old Republic™.

If you know the Professor, you know that he KNOWS his Star Wars (having read all 190 Star Wars novels) and asked some tough lore-related questions.

Hall is an awesome guy who we first met at Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando, and was able to provide some great insight into some of the more pressing matters. Just want to shout out to Hall for being such a great sport!

PAX East 2011: Taral V Gameplay – Jedi Knight

PAX East 2011 is underway… and in a big way! Star Wars: The Old Republic is easily the busiest booth from my perspective. But with so much to cover, where do we start?

Since we haven’t had an opportunity to play ourselves yet, we decided to start with posting some video of one of the PAX attendees playing the Taral V Flashpoint as a Jedi Knight. This is raw video, and only covers the “jungle” on the way to the fortress itself.

Let me just say after standing in front of this beautiful 50″ screen, that TOR looks absolutely stunning in person and in hi-definition. The graphics and environments are stunning and immersive. And sadly, I am now convinced I want to play it on a 50″ (or larger) display! :)

PAX East 2011: Friday Update: Fate Of The Galaxy Trailer

The day has finally arrived!

Stephen Reid of BioWare kicked off events in grand fashion this morning as BioWare revealed a full length gameplay trailer entitled “Fate Of The Galaxy:”

Tension between the Republic and the Empire is running high. The uneasy truce established by the Treaty of Coruscant is quickly tearing apart at the seams, and a return to all-out war has begun in all but official terms. A new generation of heroes, both light and dark, emerges to face the difficulties of these chaotic times, and fight for the fate of the galaxy in this most desperate age.

A word of caution: This trailer kicks ass. Watching it and realizing this is all in-game footage will set any and all fears to rest that you may have about action-oriented, visceral gameplay!

PAX East 2011: Friday Update Live!

In a rare “heads-up” earlier today, the official Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Twitter account posted some info about tomorrow’s regularly scheduled update:

This week’s Friday Update will debut at #PAX East! Join us at 10:15am EST at Booth 912 and help us kick off #SWTORPAX !

That’s right kids – That means even with all of the awesome guild stuff already released/revealed this week, we’re still getting a Friday update! And since BioWare plans on doing it live, on stage, at PAX East… There’s a chance it’ll be something nice :)

The Ask A Jedi team will of course be standing right there when whatever is going to happen… happens! Our goal is to bring the Friday Update to you as close to “live” on video as we can.

Stay tuned, it’s about to get interesting!

PAX East 2011: BioWare Panel Participation

Last night, BioWare Senior Community Coordinator Stephen Read posted late notice that although there are no panels or events dedicated to Star Wars: The Old Republic at PAX East, several BioWare employees will be taking part in some more broad panels:

With PAX East 2011 just a day away – well, give or take about eight hours, given my late post – I’m very pleased to tell you about a few guest appearances BioWare staff members will be making on various panels over the weekend.

The panels run the gamut:

• Rob Chestney: Video Game Comics: Lifting the Curse, Wyvern Theater, Friday @ 10:30am
• Daniel Erickson: Interactive Drama: Dialogue as Gameplay, Cat Theater, Saturday @ 5:00pm
• James Ohlen: MMORPG.com: The Future of Online Gaming, Naga Theater, Saturday @ 5:00pm

There’s a conflict between two of the panels Saturday at 5:00pm , which makes it a very tough choice!
