gamescom 2011: BioWare Pulse Interviews Razer

Earlier today, BioWare Pulse did a live interview with Razer, makers of fine gaming peripherals including the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic line.

Introduced at E3 earlier this year, the line includes a keyboard, mouse, mouse mat and headset. This interview gives a great detailed description of the keyboard especially, and I think after viewing it, will put this keyboard on the “want” list of many a TOR player. The keys even have Aurebesh equivalents on them!

Check it out!

gamescom 2011: Star Wars: The Old Republic Wins Best Online Game

Gamasutra is reporting on the announcement from the gamescom organizers that they’ve selected the winners of its annual best-in-show awards.

In what should be no small surprise to readers of this site, Star Wars: The Old Republic was named gamescom 2011’s Best Online Game. When you consider the term “online game” and how broad of a cross-section that is, even with all of the hype behind TOR, claiming this award is no small feat.

Congratluations to the teams at BioWare, LucasArts and Electronic Arts who have put so much blood, sweat and tears into bringing The Old Republic to fruition!

Thanks to @Celwinn for the tip!

gamescom 2011: The Pit Warzone Presentation Video

Once again, Darth Hater‘s international minions are paying dividends for TOR fans everywhere!

This time, they’ve smuggled a video of the “Huttball” Warzone, officially known as The Pit. It’s been described as a capture-the-flag style match, where you can… throw the flag to another player. With lightsabers.

Have a look, and let us know what you think! Thanks again to DH for their efforts to bring this to all the fans!

gamescom 2011: Eternity Vault Presentation Video

The guys over at Darth Hater have posted a short video from gamescom showing a show-floor demonstration of the Eternity Vault.

Gabe Amatangelo acts as the narrator, much as he did in yesterday’s EA press conference. For the most part, it’s the same demo with the exception of actually beating the large droid boss, and making their way into the prison block.

Some interesting notes from the presentation:

  • There is a spaceport where most of the Operations and Flashpoints are accessible from – no travel?
  • Players physically not present during the mission briefing will be holo-conferenced into the discussion, and then apparently transported to the instance when the party enters
  • A list of nearby players is shown, where the Operation leader fils the raid party from 4 to 8 players, converting it to an Operations group

Definitely worth a watch, and hopefully we’ll see more as the week at gamescom progresses! Thanks to DH for their work!

HD Eternity Vault Demo + Trailer From ingame.de

Our friends over at ingame.de, whom we met during the Fan Site Summit back in April, have just posted a full, 1080p HD video of the Star Wars: The Old Republic portion of the Electronic Arts press conference. In the video, Dr. Ray Muzyka introduces Gabe Amatangelo who guides a live group of 8 BioWare team members through the first encounter in the Eternity Vault Operation!

After the demo, they also included the new pre-recorded Eternity Vault gameplay trailer, which shows some interesting things elsewhere throughout the operation. This portion starts at about 8:05 and includes some interesting footage, including what appears to be an Imperial Agent doing a puzzle of some sort, while others protect him. That could prove to be an interesting gameplay mechanic!

Enjoy, and thanks to our buds at ingame.de for the work!

Puzzle mechanic?
