Blue Milk & Cereal: How Are You Spending Your Time At Level 50?

No day would be complete without the breakfast of Jedi: Blue Milk & Cereal.  Every morning, the team at Ask A Jedi will get Force-induced thoughts coursing through your head with delicious issues from around the galaxy! Join in the discussion below to make your voice heard!

Today’s Blue Milk & Cereal is once again crowd-sourced from the awesome AAJ Army! This time, from Charlie Malbaurn! If you have a great idea for a BM&C topic, let us know!

The level cap is an interesting thing in MMOs, especially new ones. The sooner you get there, the less there typically is to do. Usually all of the content is designed around either cooperative or competitive group play, and without other players, it makes it a little harder to do!  Star Wars: The Old Republic has been out well over a month now, and many players are beginning to reach the level cap of 50. I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere close to “most” yet, but a good chunk of folks are getting there.

So, I’m curious to hear about what you, dear readers, are doing to whittle away your time in that galaxy far, far away. Some of you have been level 50 for quite a while, and some of you just arrived. So it will be interesting to hear the perspectives from both camps! So don’t just vote, discuss below!

How do you spend your time at level 50?

  1. Other : made new class./

  2. Other: Still completing class story

  3. I leveled enough with quest to get my legacy name, and now it’s all warzones. I have very little time per day to play, so I always just do warzones. When I’m high enough in levels, I’ll complete my class story, but won’t touch sidequests.

    • Praemorior, let me ask you, how fast do you level doing warzones? I aske because i don’t do heroics and I’m always leaving a planet a level or 2 behind. I’m coming up to my last planet and want to come in on or above level

      • Warzones will level you pretty quickly. Not to mention you can start stacking commendations for quick level 50 gear bags. Even 1 or 2 a level can make a difference.

Besides warzones, space missions will net you some money and EXP as well. Both will get you roughly the same amount of exp if you’re doing the space dailies.

      • Warzones are very nice XP, especially if you pick up the level appropriate daily at the Fleet (which is just win 1 warzone). Doing that every day or so will definitely get your leveling curve back on track if you’re skipping heroics.

      • AbstractQuantum says:

I honestly think WZ level you too quickly. I leveled my first 50 doing missions. The toon I am leveling now, I am doing a lot of WZ and can barely do my class missions before they turn green. Actually, imho, I think we level to fast in the game as a whole. The lower levels are a good pace… but it doesn’t slowdown (at like 25). It should probably take 3 times as long to get from 25-50 as it does to get from 1-25. The didn’t necessarily pace it with content (there is soooo much content, especially with the bonus series).

  4. Doing Operations and Flashpoints mostly, but also will be leveling an alt.

  5. Endgame sucks :/ And it comes from a mega fan of the game…

    • ScytheNoire says:

It’s true. I remember from the Beta people saying that all there will be to do is level up each class until you’ve seen all the stories, then the game is done. It’s lacking staying power at end game. They weren’t wrong so far. The game is unfinished and not ready for launch yet.

      • Bioware has already released a major content update expanding raids and adding a flashpoint. They’re releasing another major content update in March. Have a little patience, this is an MMO.

The problem with waiting to release the game is that people complaining about the “lack” of content now, would have been complaining that the game isn’t out. Grass is always greener.

        • I don’t understand where they get this lack of content from. This game has all the end game content you would expect in an mmo. The problem isnt lack of end game content, its lack of end game content WORKING as designed. The problem is end game was brutally understested.

      • Yeah I don’t follow this criticism…at all.

I log in at 50 and feel like I have tons to do, more than I can handle. There’s the WZ daily, the Ilum daily, a bunch of dailies for commendations on Ilum and Belsavis, level 50 flashpoints, hardmode flashpoints, and 2 different operations I haven’t even touched.

(It should be obvious I’ve spent the majority of my 50 time on PVP.)

I’m pretty sure that between solo questing, PVP, flashpoints, and Ops that it would take a half of day of solid play to finish just all the “daily” activities.

Nevermind space combat, crafting, exploration, datacron searching, finishing up old questlines, socializing in guild, and RP.

I have more to get done in TOR than I can handle, and you’re complaining that there isn’t enough content? Maybe the content just isn’t what you like, maybe the game just isn’t what you like. *shrugs* Not every game can be for everyone.

  6. Other: Anxiously waiting for friends to hit level 50 so we can start running flashpoints, operations and warzones together. (I’m the leader of our guild which is bascially an only friends outside the game, guild.)

Also, my Jedi Shadow has next to 0 social points and therefore is a recluse. I’d like to be able to fix that when they catch up. : p

  7. Sleeping and dreaming about arena…

  8. Leveling alts to see other class stories and gain more legacy levels as well as unlocking/levelling crew skills.

  9. RagingSage says:

Whenever we aren’t scheduling EV/Karaga Hardmodes, I do Ilum & Warzone pvp. I never pvp’ed before 50, so it’s been a lot of work, but I’m closer to battlemaster than ever before. I plan on reaching it next week!

Don’t really know what to vote for on here, because Ops are priority, but PvP is all I really do during the day. Whenever I get sick of playing my main, I’ll hop onto one of my alts.

  10. AbstractQuantum says:

I haven’t really played my 50 since hitting 50. I started leveling another alt (more focused on wz) but I logged into my 50 for a guild event the other night and remembered ALL the stuff I had left to do on that toon. It’s crazy! I still need to finish my story arc, get more pvp gear, finish off some crafting stuff… on and on… oh datacrons still!

  11. I *literally* just dinged 49 last night, and my husband 50. Our first priority is completing the planets (for our class quests, we’ll leave the planet missions for when we are strapped on credits), getting our fastest mounts and then working on datacrons.

Next priority, working on the other side :D I can’t wait to try out Empire.

  12. btowl1818 says:

Other: After finding out this game is not for me, I’ll be quitting after hitting 50 and finishing my class story

    • Why even level to 50 then? If you are not willing to quit now then there is clearly something in this game for you.

      • btowl1818 says:

Because I want to finish the class story. I’m not terribly enthralled by it, but I’d like to see how it ends and if some of my suspicions are correct. Trust me, there’s not much in this game that I like and the only reason I’m not already 50 is because I’ve been busy having fun in other games.

  13. Marked it as warzones/pvp as thats primarily what I’m doing (almost battlemaster!), but I also do crew skills and HMs and illum (as much as it can be done due to horrible faction imbalance). The guild tried ops but dps wasn’t burning down some bosses before enrage, so thats been on hold for a bit while some of the newer 50s work on gear.

  14. Voted other because there wasn’t an all of the above option…

I run Hard Modes and Ops on my main and mess with an alt in my “off time”. Between all of that there’s crafting and War Zones but I’m more PvE focused so they’re really just a way to eat up time and prevent me from rolling another character before March.

  15. Acidtyger says:

All of the above, run hard mode flashpoints/Ops on my main and currently working on my 4th 50. Gotta level them all!

  16. still working on my class story, and doing flashpoints

  17. I’m doing the daily commendation quests and leveling an alt. Most of my friends/guildies aren’t 50 yet so I’ve done very few hard mode flashpoints and no opperations. I would be hard mode flasjpoints if there was queuing system for them.

  18. Should be a option that says sitting at the fleet spamming for a party for hours a day. This game needs a flashpoint finder so I can get back out into the world.
