Scheduled Maintenance: Saturday 28th (Yes, Tomorrow!)

Community Production Coordinator Amber Green just posted an alert for scheduled maintenance, which in itself is a good thing. However, this is an “extra” maintenance period to occur on Saturday morning, January 28th:

We are working on getting a patch deployed to address various issues and we expect it to deploy in the early hours of the morning tomorrow (CST) and take no longer than four hours.

There will be notifications that the servers will be going down before the patch is put in place, so please keep an eye out for these. You can also check this forum post for the most updated information.

It must be a very important patch to do a 2-a-week patch cycle, so we’ll keep you updated when we learn more! For now, head over to read Amber’s full post.

It damn sure has to be important! I just got up and was looking foreward of having a nice few hours of game time before i leave the house. Bioware has to stop with the Europan day time maintenance. And on a Saturday!?!?

    • I could not agree more… Is borderline discrimination the way they treats their European costumers and im getting pretty sick of. Its good that they patch the game and all that, but why punish a segment for your costumers for the bugs in the game`?

      • Lowest common denominator. The Average person doesn’t play during the day. So their maintenance times are scheduled to end before evening for all players, regardless of location.

    • agreed – sleepy time for everyone else – but for me – working a full week – this is play time… gutted.

    • Maintenance extended with NO eta. Notice this happens after they have our money. Proper kitten kicking rage tbh.

  2. my dear god. I’m working 11h/day and they have to patch on a saturday? till 1pm? really?
I’ts a “scheduled” patch – so why cant they wait till monday? or find a more european friendly maintenance time? is it to much to ask to be able to play on weekends? if it was an emergency hotfix it would be okay – but – sorry – WTF?!

  3. HappyDagger says:

I agree with you both. It’s bad enough that we have to deal with regular maintenance biting in to my playtime, but on a saturday? When i left for work friday afternoon, I saw nothing on the forums. I get home to play my game, i’m not going to look to see if there’s unscheduled maintenance before i start a long quest chain and get involved in the story (that they’re rightly proud of). This kind of thing is important, i know that, but seriously! A Saturday? What were the WoW exploiters doing this time?

  4. To whoever picked a Friday night/Sat Morning to do a non emergency patch, this stinks.

And there’s not even any info on what is so essential that they bring down the server at such a rotten time.

    Poor form guys.

  5. I do appreciate short response times on critical issues but at the moment it seems they are shutting down the whole server grid whenever someone reports a blurry texture or a missing tool tip. Look at the Ilum “issue”. How many people were able to exploit that? Only the small population of competitive level 50 players. Who suffered? All players.

What I don’t get is why Bioware tends to react on hysterical threads (or sometimes threats) with hysterical measures. (‘Oh my god some 13 year old said the game is imbalanced, we need 10 engineers work on that topic asap and shut the servers down on Saturday!’). I am a paying customer who loves the game and I laugh at all the subscription cancel talk. BUT I am growing impatient at the slope of your learning curve, BW!

  6. Just checked before heading out to work to see if maybe they are taking valor out of Ilum to head off all the easy mode Battlematers. Not sure why there are no patch notes. Are they going to do a wow on us.

  7. And now it’s been extended… on a Saturday… awesome.

  8. UPDATE 5:45 AM CST: Today’s server maintenance has been extended. At this time, we do not have an estimate for the end of the maintenance. Thank you for your patience.

GOSH!! Saturday – peek hours, I hope that BW refund this with free days

  9. It would be nice if they would at least tell us what issue was so urgent, that it required pulling all the servers dwon on a weekend rather than waiting until tuesdays normal window.

    • Yes. An unknown reason only makes this more irritating for folks.

I’m fortunate not to live in an area that this is prime gaming time. Still 6 am here, and I have to go to work for a bit. But I feel bad for all you folks that do.

  10. Im all for fixing things but the timing for us Euro players needs sorting quick smart.

  11. One of the worst things about the whole situation is the fact they stop people posting on the forums at the same time. They know they are going to generate a storm of complaints, but shut the doors so paying customers can’t voice their opinions.

I have never experienced such a lack of respect for customers outside of the double glazing industry. Still at least these cowboys are actual americans.

  12. Just when I had forgotten how pissed off I was when they had the servers down for most of the 26th Dec. Just when people had just purchased the game and are on holidays.
The bottom line is that they have complete disregard for European players. If they do the patches “off peak times” how come they disable their forum so it doesn’t go down like last time?

  13. If there’s any MMORPG with worse maintenance timing, Eurpoe-wise, please warn me so I never buy it.
Maintenance all a morning of a ¿¡Saturday!? It’s the most moroning scheulde I have had to endure since…well since the one in X-mas, also in SWTOR.
Are being obnoxious on purpose or it’s plain incapability?

    • On a funny fact, it’s already 2 hours after the theoretical end of the maintenance and if I go to the official SWTOR web page the only server that appear as online it’s the one I play…except it isn’t online, of course XDD

    • Obsidanse says:

WoW was just as bad in the beginning.
Worse in-fact because there was no warning.
Even so.. It doesnt excuse the treatment the euros are getting and we shouldnt have our Saturday morning play time decimated like this.
      Unreasonable stuff Bioware.

  14. Obsidanse says:

If it were emergency i’d understand.
They’re just sticking two giant fingers up to anyone east of the U.S.
I’m sure it will be up before 2:00 GMT … They just couldnt bare to have the servers down on a saturday morning for all their dear american people could they?

    Jerks.
