MMOs always get a bad rap from non-players as incredible time-sinks. If you’re an MMO player of course, you know this to be true :) When I go back and look at my played time in World of Warcraft, I’m always shocked. If only I had used that time by donating it to charity, I could have single-handedly built a house for Habitat for Humanity, instead of volunteering 1 day a year!
BioWare claims that there are about 200 hours of gameplay per class in Star Wars: The Old Republic. While there may be a defined amount of “content”, the reality is the game is perpetual and there are (and should be) always things for your character to do. Even if you’re rolling and playing multiple characters, you’re still spending what is likely an obtuse amount of time in the game.
On the other hand, TOR might be a little different. When you look at BioWare’s goals of storytelling and drawing new fans to the genre, perhaps the amount of time players are putting into the game is markedly less overall.
In any case, with the game being just over a month old, I thought it would be interesting to see what the played time is on your main character? If you’re unaware of how to check this, you can simply type /played into the console/chat line in-game.

Apparently it’s took me around 7 days and 20 hours to explore the universe and play my Sith Inquisitor through his class story. Hit 50, and now having a moment of pause. Still have Corellia world quests to finish off..
But while I plan on doing those, I’m going to take a break and go do some Republic time on an alt. Think I’m approaching this from alternating Imperial to Republic, so I get a rest from re-doing the same Worlds in short order…
Give the end-game content and Illium side of things a chance to settle out rather then jump into it at the moment…
19 days 16 hours 38 mins as of this writing. I was lvl 50, days before Xmas.
seeing as how the game has been out for 38 days… you have been online for fully half of that time. 12 hrs a day…. wow…
On my Bounty Hunter (who is currently my main) I am at 3 days, 12 hours, 56 minutes. I just hit level 33 and finished Act 1 of my class story. Unlocked my Legacy as well. I’m in no rush to reach level 50. I’m having a great time.
I like what Raithe says about faction hopping in between characters. I think this will help avoid burnout. Guess my next main is going to be Republic.
5 days, 22 hours and 25minutes at time of writing.
My knight is 45 and I’m in no rush to get to 50. got a trooper at 34, and I’m alternating Republic – Empire for now so I won’t get to bored with the worlds in a row.
But then, sometimes, I’m using the game as a glorified chat client, so not all of it have been questing.
