Public Test Server Availability Imminent

Considering launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic only happened just yesterday, I wasn’t expecting to see an announcement of the Public Test Server availability any time soon, much less this week. Much less today. But lo and behold, that’s what we have!

Our buds over at TORWars spotted a new message from Game Testing Coordinator Amber Green, who posted this news on the official Star Wars: The Old Republic forums:

“Welcome! The Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Public Test Server is in place to test future game content, new hardware, and bug fixes. It is available to all players will an active subscription, so we encourage you to create a character and help with testing!

We’ll be regularly making updates to the patch notes as development continues. It should be noted that all changes and updates listed should be considered incomplete and are subject to change or removal before release to the live servers.

Your participation and feedback are truly appreciated. Thank you for testing!

To access the Public Test Server:

Log in to the Star Wars: The Old Republic launcher using your username and password.
The bottom left corner will have two buttons: select the button with arrows switch servers.
Under “Pick an Environment” select “Public Test”
Click “Next”
Click “Play” and you will be on the Public Test Server
Create a new character* and play!

*At this time, players are not able to copy characters from the live servers to the Public Test Server.”

This is great news not only for players who want to help test out new content and features, but because it shows BioWare is very interested in having the game in a highly-polished state before it reaches the masses.
