Blue Milk & Cereal: What Will You Do In Beta?

No day would be complete without the breakfast of Jedi: Blue Milk & Cereal. Every morning, the team at Ask A Jedi will get Force-induced thoughts coursing through your head with delicious issues from around the galaxy! Join in the discussion below to make your voice heard!

Just yesterday morning here in Blue Milk & Cereal we were asking if you had ever been invited to any phase of testing for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Well, after yesterday’s Friday Update announcing that EVERYONE is invited to an upcoming Beta Weekend, that poll would look a little different this morning! We’d like to think BioWare saw our poll results and felt bad, and decided to give everyone a shot. Yes, I’m sure that’s what happened.

So now that you all know that you’re going to be in testing at some point soon, at least for a weekend, how will you play? Maybe you’re going to jump right into your main class choice. Or, perhaps you’ll play the opposite faction just to see it. At any rate, this morning the question is simple: what will you do in beta once you get there?

What will you do in beta testing once you get there?

  1. ScytheNoire says:

In my previous Beta Weekends, I rolled every class!

  2. I am going to roll the mirror class – the Imperial Agent. Maybe I like it enough to change faction come release :)

Anyway, I want to try out the various Crew Skills, the information we have right now is more than vague.

Do I need both Slicing and Scavenging to level Cybertech or can I replace one of them with a Mission skill? That’s what I want to know and try out.

  3. Beta test and try to break everything, even though it’s been in testing for what seems like forever.

  4. I’ve done everything else now I want to focus on crew skills.

  5. try different classes

  6. Different faction, different class, play to crew skill level and experiment. Fingers crossed its not next weekend… I couldn’t be busier.

  7. Im planning on starting something on the republic side as im gonna be sith main and im going to concentrate of crew skills so i have an idea what im doing when the game launches etc

  8. I’m gonna try to play every class for a few lvls.

  9. Ratkinantics says:

I have a hard choice to make. So far I’ve managed to drop the Sith warrior from my choice of main, my best friend decided to choose that, so now I have just the other three to choose from.

BH merc is looking good at the moment, Sith Sorcerer looks ideal (hey, who wouldn’t want the ability to fry opponents), but I also hear IA sniper calling my name.

It’s a difficult choice. The BH and SInq both seem pretty clear character concepts… The IA seems a little more vague, is the trade-off of maneuverability vs damage worth it? The beta will help me decide.

  10. Rolling my class mirror and concentrating acquiring my crew skills and companions.

  11. I’d play a variety of classes to get a feel of their gameplay and stories. But I think I’d stick to my plan to make a Consular first in the full game.

  12. I will role most likely all the classes and then skip through all the story so that it doesn’t ruin it when I role those classes after launch.

I really want to experiment with the healing and soloing while rolling a healing spec… I really want to see how I like the cover system for the smuggler

I also want to see how the different classes play all around and then decide which one I want to role as a main when it launches…. I think it would be either the trooper or the smuggler but the bets will definitely help me make that decision

  13. It’s my first time in beta, so I’m going to roll every class and see which one suits me best.

  14. nothing cause it wont work on my shitty computer

  15. i have been in beta 3 times, so i’ll play this one with a relaxed mind set probably roll a BH one last time before launch, and i’ll lag like hell… because if every one is there it probably won’t be playable most of the time lol.

  16. Ironfortress says:

I wan to try the mechanics of a few classes to see exactly what i want to play b4 the actual game is release. If Star wars is good and I end up playing it for 6 years like i did with WOW this is the only character I’m going to use. So it’ll be a good chance to see which class I’m going to settle with pre launch instead of wasting time experimenting after the release

  17. I purposely rolled the two classes I was least interested in. I want to save the good stuff for when the game is out for real and I can take my time with it. Also I’ll be playing on an iMac on Boot Camp, but I don’t have a copy of Windows yet, so for now I have to play the beta on my boyfriend’s laptop with a much smaller screen and not-as-great video card, etc.

I gotta hand it to Bioware though – I first rolled the Republic Trooper, the class and storyline I was basically completely uninterested in, and I really enjoyed myself, especially the gameplay. I was pretty shocked.

  18. I will try the consular, inquisitor and the bounty huter to see witch one i will play first

  19. Since it’s only a weekend, I’ll go with the main I plan to play at launch (or rather, one of the two candidates) to see if I actually like it. I don’t mind spoiling the first several hours of a 100+ hour storyline.

I’ll probably pick some of the conversation options differently than I otherwise would though.

  20. Hammerheadcruiser says:

Im in the early acess so I will go with my main, jedi knight
its only 2 days so this will give me a chance to test my main, then for early acess I will go with inquisitor assassin

  21. probably check out a little of each class. don’t want to spoil to much story line and see it as a chance to try things i might not when game starts.
