Gamer Magazine Previews SW:TOR; Directive 7 Flashpoint Mention

The non-stop sleuthing of the guys and gals over at TORWars have turned up yet another gem in the most unexpected of places: Best Buy.

The latest issue of Gamer Magazine, which is available free at Best Buy, features Star Wars: The Old Republic on the cover, and provides a very nicely done spread on the game inside. It covers classes, worlds, Warzones and more. For the most part, most hardcore fans won’t get much new info out of it, but there is a little tidbit about the Directive 7 Flashpoint…

Up until now, very little has been said about Directive 7 other than what is on the official Game Systems page for Flashpoints. There, it’s described as an end-game Flashpoint playable by both factions.

Luckily, you don’t even have to leave your chair to read it. It’s available as a downloadable PDF from Gamer right here!

  1. The only negative i have to say is that the “things they like, and don’t like” are just irrational…I mean alot of players are gonna be interested because this is a MMORPG in that case the story is very important and that is the thing that keeps the game entertaining (well at my taste) but I think this game will interest a lot of Single player game :D and Star Wars fans

  2. gamerladyp says:

The aspect that people used to single player games and not MMOs will dislike the most is not being able to save and reload. Getting used to death as part of the learning process will make it harder for some to warm up to the format. But yeah, I expect the game to have a lot of single players who go through story, don’t do the grouping mechanics, then walk away from the game for a while.

    • Grinstone says:

The other side of the coin is that, unlike in single player games, death in an MMO has minimal consequences. And even then it’s more that you have to spend time to get back to where you were rather than that you lost your Ueber Gun #5.

As for grouping, a lot games support multiplayer and co-op variants, so I don’t think that’s going to be something that’ll necessarily be alien to people who come from the single player experience.

All in all, though, I think one of the best things that could happen is for TOR to get a lot of occasional players from the multitudes of Star Wars fans.

  3. Well some will be obliged to,if they want to play the full game and reach some planets (played the beta i know what I am saying :) ),but I think the save and load will be a challenge which is great and all of your decisions will be important.
