For hard-core followers of the game, there isn’t much new information. but the article was written very much with the non-gamer in mind. Still, there are some interesting quotes and tidbits, on which we are more than happy to speculate upon:

On the basics…

“You take part in epic stories set throughout the Star Wars universe on dozens of planets.”

“This (starships) also serves as a home base where you can store equipment and items.”

On character customization…

“If you’re familiar with Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic, one of the things that we showed was how the dark side started to corrupt you. Your appearance started to change, your flesh started to age and you become more like Palpatine from the movies, and your abilities started to change as well. This also occurs in The Old Republic.”

On progression…

“Because it’s a role-playing game, it’s all about progressing both in power levels and equipment that you have.”

On combat…

“It’s a rule-based system, so you don’t have to have good hand-eye coordination or anything like that;”

On space combat…

“We have different levels of difficulty so if you’re not the greatest space shooter, you’re still going to be able to have fun.”

On PvP…

“We do have something called War Zones, which are specifically created scenarios where players can fight on a level playing field.”

On planets…

“We have created some new planets.”

On the future…

“You need to add new quests and new zones, and – in our case – new planets and new stories. We want the Star Wars universe to exist for years or even decades after release.”

Interesting. So dark side will change physical appearances. Me like.

Yeah, that was the first place I saw it ‘confirmed’ and am surprised there isn’t more talk about it on the forums.

      • It was confirmed sometime when they first announced the game. They made it sound like we got to customize the effect during character creation.

I know it’s been talked about a lot, and almost obvious from all of the images we’ve seen, but I’ve never actually seen is spoken or confirmed before… thanks Chronium!

    • It should be interesting to see how different that “Change” will be for the Classes, especially if [hopefully] it affects the Non-Force Using Classes as they are also affected by the Alignment System just as the Force Users are.
