Friday Update: Nar Shaddaa and Comics!
This Friday’s update brings us the first playable planet announcement that we’ve had in a while… in the form of a moon! Nar Shaddaa, The Smuggler’s Moon, has officially been announced:
Circling the planet Hutta is its largest moon – Nar Shaddaa, the ultimate corrupt city. Dominated by underworld concerns and owned by the Hutts, this sprawling mass of skyscrapers is considered one of the most dangerous and exciting places in the galaxy, where anything can be had for the right price.
In addition, we also get Issue #8 of Blood of the Empire:
In the eighth issue of Blood of the Empire™, Teneb Kel is confronted with a strange and frightening vision of the past, the future, and of his greatest enemy. As he lies broken in the Lenico wasteland, he must seek the truth about Exal Kressh and the Emperor’s goals within his mystical dream–or be utterly destroyed when he returns to reality.
Finally, we get a reminder that the original web comic, Threat of Peace, is now available in print from your favorite comic retailer:
Pick up a copy of Threat of Peace Issue 1 from your local comic store, or order online directly from Dark Horse. An alternate cover version is also available at some outlets and online. And don’t forget to check back in August and September for Issues 2 and 3!

I’d like to point out that this is specifically listed as a playable “area” not a planet in the update. This could have much greater implications for the game. We could expect to see other moons or even space stations as playable areas. Also, Nar Shaddaa is a moon of Hutta, perhaps it has some storylines directly related to the content on Hutta
Well, if they list something in the “Planets” are of the Holonet, which they did in this case, then I would expect it to be nothing less than a playable world.
I have no doubt that we’ll probably see some locations in the game that are purely instanced and don’t really “exist,” but I think we’d all feel sort of duped if they’re putting playable instanced “areas” and listing them as planets.
Personally, I’d be a sad panda if planets in the Holonet are anything but fully explorable worlds. :(
Oh no doubts it’ll be fully explorable! I’m just saying that we can expect even MORE fully explorable area than just planets. We now have moons, maybe we’ll even see space stations/colonies (think the colony that was destroyed in Blood of the Empire) or larger starcruisers (think the “kill the captain” flashpoint.. how did they get to the start of that flashpoint??)
I don’t think Bioware is duping us, if anything they’re giving us even more than we should ever have hoped for
Ah, I see what you’re saying now and I agree! Would be very cool to have everything from space stations to deserted capital ships (in space, and even on the ground)… lots of places!
I just don’t want them to put anything in the “Planets” section unless we can go there, explore, maneuver about freely, and perhaps even set up our base of operations there :)
I must admit that I’m not entirely sure what it offers that other planets don’t already offer. With Coruscant already in the game we have a city planet and with Hutta we already have a crime capitol.
